In 1996, when a camp for adopted children was being proposed, a young child heard about the idea and was so thrilled that he might be able to attend camp said, “Really, a camp? For Me?” Now his dream is a reality!
Camp ForMe is a day camp for children ages 7 – 12 who have been adopted, including children with special needs. Campers who are interested may work their way up through “the ranks” when they reach age 13 in our Leaders in Training and Junior Counselor Programs – and, eventually, become Counselors. Last summer we had 12 counselors who had participated in Camp for several years prior to joining our staff.
Camp ForMe, in its 13th year, will be held at the Green Mountain Valley School in Fayston, Vermont. In 2008, the first session will be held June 23 – June 27; the second session will be held July 7 – July 11.
The goal of the camp is to have it accessible to all who wish to attend. It is of prime importance to have the operational costs underwritten by donations and sponsors.
